Early Birthday Present from Hubby

Look what Hubby bought me for my Birthday. It is a Vintage Cedar Chest, the top 2 drawers are false drawers and that is the cedar chest part, the bottom drawer is a real drawer that is cedar lined. WOOHOO. I LOVE IT. Also came with a glass top in case I want to stack stuff on the top of it. HMMMM, 1 more place to pile junk. Hopefully not, I am THRILLED WITH IT. As you can see our floor needs a little TLC too. But it is the original flooring and I LOVE IT.

FALL IS HERE!!!!

BRRR, chilly around here today. Only in the 50's. Should be sewing or something but what am I doing??? Playing on the computer.

I have asome things for show and tell and will have another one as soon as we get it in the house, right now I have.

First Toni from  www.underthediningroomtable.blogspot.com  gave me this awesome crazy quilt that I absolutely LOVE.

And Elaine from http://soggybottomflats.blogspot.com/ sent me this WONDERFUL box of wool to add to my stash.

So I would LOVE TO SAY THANK YOU TO BOTH OF MY AWESOME FRIENDS FOR THEIR FRIENDSHIP AND GENEROSITY!!! LOVE YOU GIRLS!!!!!!

And I bought this wonderful old quilt on ebay. Haven't seen anything like this, the woman I bought it from called it a "Wagon Wheel" but when I google wagon wheel quilt blocks, nothing like this shows up. It is all hand stitched and hand quilted. GREAT HEY!!!!!!!!!
So those are my show and tell for the time being, come back later and see what I am bringing in from the truck. :) It will be exciting. MY EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESENT FROM HUBBY!!!!!!

I have been MIA

Sorry about that, summer is busy around here, gardening, flower beds, mowing the lawn, (Well I don't mow but it sounds good doesn't it). SO now that fall is just around the corner (HIDING OUT TODAY~IT IS SUNNY AND CLOSE TO 80 I think) I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I have been working on a denim/shirtings quilt, WHO KNEW IT WOULD TAKE ME 4 days to cut all the strips and squares. Now that I have evernthing cut out it should go to gether pretty fast. Here they are, aren't they going to turn out WONDERFUL. This is supposed to be a gift but the more I work on it the more I think it is going to be hard to give it away.

SO what does everyone think?????

LOOK WHAT I FOUND

Such an awesome little quilt, nothing fancy, it is hand stitched but machine quilted. I LOVE IT. Think it is from the 1940's but am not sure, it has a couple of little spots that need to be restitched but other than that it is like brand new (smells and looks like it has never  been used) so this little baby is going on my quilt rack in my sewing room so I can look at it of pet it every day. :) And that is Dandy, our Rat Terrier who thinks the chair and the quilt both belong to her. :) Yes she is a tad bit spoiled in case you can't tell.

New Block

Worked on a "Practice" block last night and fell in love with it, altho I don't have enough of the strip fabric to use for the whole quilt, I think it makes this block. So my plan is to use the same strip fabric in all 4 squares I use to make a block to add a little continuity to the quilt. So what does everyone think????

ALMOST FINISHED

I have to finish the binding but I hope to have that done by next weekend, the long arm quilter did an awesome job and got it back to me super fast. I took it to a different quilter, my usual one was busy and this one comes highly recommended, the only thing I wish she would have done was the BINDING, my usual quilter does the binding on all her quilts by machine unless you request she not do it and leave it for you. So I am learning to do binding this week. Which isn't all bad since I have never learned how to do it, actually it isn't so bad, but I think I will stick with my regular quilter who does it for me. :) MUCH EASIER FOR ME.

This is my Memorial Weekend Post

Hubby is a Proud Viet Nam Veteran and we are a patriotic family. We always make it to the Memorial Day Services at the Local Legion Hall, Hubby belongs to the Legion and we made it to LZ Lambeau (Wisconsin Viet Nam Veterans WELCOME HOME) last weekend. So my wish for this weekend is for everyone to remember the Veterans in your Life, your Town, your State, your Country. There is a saying and it is "We live Free because of THE BRAVE" I couldn't agree more.

Quilt To Share with Bloggers Quilt Festival

This is a family quilt, belonged to Hubby's Mom, she started it, never got it quite finished, so I rescued it (NO ONE ELSE IN THE FAMILY WANTED IT DO YOU BELIEVE THAT) took it to Hubby's Aunt (His Mom's Sister) who was 90 years old at the time and she and I finished it. She did most of the hand quilting, the quilt is totally hand stitched and hand quilted. I helped with the binding, so I can't say I "really" made it but I defnately saved it. So I claim dibs on it from now on. :) ISN'T IT BEAUTIFUL. The fabric is old feedsacks from the 30's.

Palomino Pony

Just cut a little palomino Pony for the WOOL CRAZY BLOG, someone else gave away an angora bunny so I thought I would give away a Palomino Pony. Isn't she cute!!!!!!!!! Oc course she needs some "personal attention" like a saddle and maybe a bridle, and defiantely a mane and tail. SO FUN TO EMBELLISH!!!!

She is the same as the wool pony on my Wool Crazy Block. I couldn't find my leather otherwise I would have done a leather pony and named her Lacey (and give her some lace for a saddle, wouldn't that be cute!!!!!!!

NEW THREAD!!!!!!

I went to the Rosemont (Chicago) Quilt Show yesterday on the hunt for new thread for my wool crazy quilt blocks. WOW, who knew there was that much thread on the market and all so cool too. So many great varieties and I think I picked up a little of everything, including some trim, (A Girl has to have trim hey) and some fancy rick rack too. So here are some pics of my favorite finds. Don't ask me where I bought them, I wasn't keeping track of the store names, just interested in the THREAD.

Quilty/Stitchy Retreat

This weekend we have a retreat, about 20 of us go to a nearby motel and spend the weekend stitching, quilting, eating, laughing, shopping etc. COULD IT GET BETTER????? I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT. So I am hoping to work on a couple of my stitchery projects and some quilty projects too. When I get back on Monday I will post my progress. Everyone have a good weekend in the meantime.

Hello BLOG LAND

Thought I would start a stitching blog, I love embroidery, crazy quilting, applique,  primitive, shabby chic, country etc. I intend to post some fun stuff here and meet some new stitchin' friends along the way. So pick up your needle, thread, etc. sit in your favorite rocking chair, get your favorite cup of tea or glass of wine and take a look around. Hope you find something you like here and enjoy your stay. I love comments so speak your mind.  Here are a couple of photos to start things off. I made this for one of our Daughters (Who Loves her Horses). I found this pattern at the Rosemont Quilt Show last year and she has alot of these, they are drawn from real Carousel Horses from Germany (I think that is what it was) she has most of the collection, so I think I might pick up another one this year when I go. I love them. I am an AVID THRIFT STORE SHOPPER and I got this frame (Which I think is quite fitting since it has gold leaf~~~CIRCUS LIKE) at the local thrift store for $1.00. What a find hey????
